Our Story
A second generation jewellery and gift store
Babcock Jewellers was started by Walter Babcock in the charming town of Dresden in 1953. His son Brent, who grew up working in his father’s store obtained his Bachelors of Business Management degree from Ryerson University in Toronto as well as his Certificate of Diamonds and Diamond Grading from the Gemological Institute of America. While in Toronto Brent gained valuable experience working in the jewellery industry for another four years before returning to Dresden to join his father in 1986 and eventually took over the reins in 1991.
Babcock Jewellers started out as a quaint little store on the West side of St. George St. with a move across the street soon after. Bursting at the seams with more and more product lines of jewellery, giftware and collectibles, a section of wall was removed to allow expansion into the building next to it in 2001 virtually doubling the sales floor size to over 1800 square feet.
