Our Story
A second generation jewellery and gift store
Babcock Jewellers was founded by Walter Babcock in the charming town of Dresden in 1953. His son, Brent, grew up learning the trade in his father’s store and went on to earn a Bachelor of Business Management from Ryerson University in Toronto, along with a Certificate in Diamonds and Diamond Grading from the Gemological Institute of America. While in Toronto, Brent gained four years of valuable industry experience before returning to Dresden in 1986 to join his father, eventually taking over the business in 1991.
Originally a quaint little store on the west side of St. George Street, Babcock Jewellers quickly outgrew its space. A move across the street soon followed, and as demand grew for more jewellery, giftware, and collectibles, the store expanded again in 2001 by removing a section of wall and taking over the neighboring building — virtually doubling the sales floor to over 1,800 sq. ft.
Today, we continue the Babcock family tradition of providing quality jewellery, gifts, and personalized service, right here in the heart of downtown Dresden.

Babcock offers a unique “layaway plan” which lets you put your purchases on hold with a small down payment and pick up later when needed with no interest charges. This is a great way to start your Christmas shopping early, often getting unique items that you cannot get closer to the date you need them.
